Jazzy’s River House: “Best Place to stay in Dominical”
(Cabinas en Puntarenas Dominical: Review 1)
Written by ewinchester on Nov 14, 2006

We were some of the first guest ever to stay at Jazzy’s and it was the highlight of our trip. Kim and Steve were so warm and welcoming we almost didn’t want to leave the property to go and do the things we went to Costa Rica to do – hiking, napping on the beach, surfing, and exploring. We stayed four nights and really did not want to leave. The accommodations are open air (we were there in Dec/Jan) and we were very comfortable. You will need ear-plugs if you are a light sleeper and mosquito spray, but they do have mosquito netting for the beds. Since it is open air and sits on a little river inlet, you can see lots of wildlife from the comfort of your own bed! It is in a great location, and Kim and Steve have taken the time and effort to attend to every detail.

Kim and Steve are both excellent cooks. They prepare a vegetarian meal once a week that is open to the public and affordable. Steve holds yoga classes and offers massage. He also plays guitar. Kim teaches piano and basket weaving. They enjoy performing both at home and in a local club in the evenings. They make an excellent breakfast too – homemade granola, fresh yogurt, fresh fruit salad, and awesome coffee!

Jazzy’s River House – “My favorite place to stay in Dominical”

Nestled in its own tropical jungle, this “tico chic” tree house is a real treat. Travelers can stay in the heart of Domincal but still feel the serene seclusion of this open-air accommodation. It’s two stories with a fully loaded kitchen, a gorgeous tiled bathroom with hot water, comfy living quarters and the upstairs bedrooms offer gorgeous views of the sunset over Rio Baru. Sleeps 4 and ideal for families with kids. The hosts, Steve and Kim are great friends and offer their host of unique tico talents like palm sheath weaving, surfing and kayaking. Ideal for travelers who want to live on tico time for a bit while exploring the town and neighboring wilderness.
